Deception: Lectures and Media

I have lectured nationally and internationally on deception, addressing a wide variety of groups including attorneys, judges, physicists, mental health professionals, and high school teachers. Venues have included the NATO Advanced Study Institute in Maratea, Italy, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association in Toronto, The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Chicago, the Advanced Studies Institute for Polygraphers, the American Academy of Judicial Education, and the New York Academy of Sciences. In addition, I have participated in a variety of workshops on deception, such as “The Science of Deception,” co-sponsored by the CIA, APA, and the RAND Corporation.

On television shows such as The Today Show and the Nightly News on NBC, Good Morning America on ABC, CBS This Morning, CNN Newstand and Anderson Cooper 360, PBS, CNBC Hardball with Chris Matthews, the Discovery Channel, Lifetime, and the BBC, I have discussed my research on deception.

My studies of lying have been described in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The London Sunday Times, El Pais, The San Francisco Chronicle, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and The Miami Herald.

Magazine stories mentioning my research on deception have appeared in Time, The New York Times Magazine, US News and World Report, Utne Reader, Cosmopolitan, Readers’ Digest, Family Circle, Parents Magazine, Child Magazine, Glamour, Allure, Psychology Today, Men’s Health, Health, and many other publications.
